Traditional doorknobs will have two screws in the faceplate. Remove the two screws holding the strike plate in place on the door jamb and install the new one in the same position. Place the new handle onto the outside of the door. Step 1 remove the screws in the faceplate of the doorknob if they re visible.

Put your tape measure on the floor in front of your door and measure up 41 inches from the floor since this is the most common placement for door handles. Repeat this process to attach the other faceplate. Use a phillips head screwdriver and turn the screws counterclockwise to loosen them. With the latch assembly in place slide the door handle with the attached cylinder into place. Use the allen key provided in the door handle kit to lock and secure the faceplate.

Installing a door handle is a relatively easy home project that you can do with a pre made kit. Slide the faceplate over the door handle and snap it into place. Align the two long screws from the inside knob into the cylinders on the exterior door knob and tighten the screws. Line up the spindle on the back of the handle with the slot in the latch sliding any mechanisms up or down as needed to fit the handle onto the door.

Assemble the spindle and spring then insert them through the outside of the door as shown in the assembly view fig. In this kit the hole for the allen key is at the bottom of the faceplate.
