How to install drip edge flashing on a flat roof.

Coat the flat part of the flashing that sits on the deck using a putty knife. The best way is to install the roof drip edge only along the eaves first then place ice and water barrier in the snowbelt or felt paper underlayment over the drip edge. Gently lift up the shingles on the edge of the roof and locate the nails holding the existing drip edge onto the roof. Use a flat pry bar to remove drip edge nails along the eave and rakes.

Lift the shingles slide the drip edge underneath them and position it so that it extends over the gutters then replace the shingles and push down to seat the drip edge. Use a flat pry bar and hammer to pry the nails out of the drip edge gently. Secure the drip edge with roofing cement. Apply roofing cement when installing drip edge on an existing roof.

Slide the flat bar under starter course and pry out the nails. If using a type c drip edge you can install a furring strip to increase its performance. A furring edge is a strip of one by two wood you install on the vertical surface of the house just beneath the roof s edge. Please like and subscribe for more instructional videos.

You may need to use a putty knife to break the seam between the first course and the starter strip. At 7 05 paul begins replacing the drip edge roof flashing.
