Mount the hinges on the new door and hang the door.
If the doorknob is on the left you need a left handed door.
Measure this distance and mark the location on the frame and then do the same on the door that you re hanging.
Open the door and stand with your back to the hinges.

Remove door from hinge knuckles.
Working from the hinge side or rear of the door take out the door knob and existing lock set.
If the old door was trimmed at the bottom and you were happy with the gap at the floor cut the new door to match.
Place your hinges in the correct location.
Trim door to correct size.
Pull hinge pins and take down old door.
Close old door and measure up 12 inches from threshold and mark the door.
One hinge is located 7 inches from the top of the door frame and the other hinge is located 11 inches from the bottom of the door frame.
Lay old door on top of new door.
If you don t need any further adjustments remove the door again then finish it to match the rest of the woodwork and rehang it.
Again using the old door as a template with a pencil mark on the new door where the hinges and door knob will be located.
Align the top edge of both doors and use the existing door as a guide for marking the hinge placement on the new door.
