Take the replacement board fit it in place image 2 and nail it in with a hammer using galvanized nails. If your sheathing is not solid you will need to first attach horizontal furring strips. Once all the nails are removed from the adjoining board the damaged one should just pull out. Slide the zip tool along the bottom edge to release the vinyl siding from the piece below it.

Be sure to nail into the existing holes on the adjacent siding. Plumbing and wiring will also need to be inspected and repaired if damaged. Hope this helps you in your diy projects and best of luck. Remove the torn insulation and black belly board.

Starting at one end of the damaged piece push the end of the zip siding removal tool up under the siding until you feel it hook the bottom lip. When you replace the boards use a homemade reveal set jig to match the reveal of the existing siding. This article should help you with the last part. The courses should overlap by at least 1 in.
