Installing Siding On Sip Panels

If you have any doubts about a particular type of siding contact a the sip manufacturer and b the siding manufacturer to verify that the products will work.

Give the panels plenty of support and don t let them sag for 8 foot panels two stickers are enough but for 12 to 16 foot panels use three stickers. Use the wider starter strip. One panel will run long and the other panel will butt up against the previous one. A cold roof is achieved by adding strapping and another layer of sheathing over the sips.

It protects the sheathing from rain snow and pests. Below the top of the foundation but the lower the vinyl siding is installed the better. The panels are then attached with big sips screws through the longer panel just inside the dimensional lumber placed in the corner and into the dimensional lumber in the second panel. Sips need to be fully supported during installation.

For longer panels don t go more than 6 or 8 feet between stickers. Also make sure to set the panels in place in order start in the corners or valleys and work outward. This will create an air space over your panels which will allow them dry out if moisture escapes. Lay panels flat on stickers no closer than three inches to the ground.
