But if the floor is covered in plywood you can t stuff enough insulation beneath it to do the job sufficiently not even in warm climates. Because the simplest and cheapest way to insulate an attic is to add material to the floor. Stop using your attic for storage.

But insulating your floors is a good idea for many reasons including energy efficiency and height adjustments. Foam insulation boards can be attached to concrete walls as well and in such a case care should be taken not to chip the cement. Foam board insulation is used on attics and walls yet it can also be used to insulate your floors. Put on work gloves safety glasses and a dust mask before entering the attic.

When installing foam insulation boards in the attic make sure you start from one corner and work your way around the room. Start with the attic floor. Place a 2 inch by 3 inch board. Step 3 place caulking and furring strips.
