Is a spare on a roof rack a bad idea.
I feel like it can t be too bad since your tires get just about as much exposure but maybe not quite as much sunlight.
I guess i ll just have to stick with my patch kit and air compressor for the time being.

For those of you that don t have a trailer hitch and don t want to have one installed you can use strap on trunk racks or spare tire racks if you ve got an extra tire on the back of your vehicle.
First my vehicle hummer h3 has slightly curved factory roof racks and i d rather not replace.
That s no good for us.
A roof rack is a classic off road accessory.
A lot of people carry spare tyres on their roof racks and that s fine providing you watch the total roof weight and can get it up and down.
Another option is to put the spare on a roof rack but that s bad for two reasons.
All these rear mounted racks are great but keep in mind they really only carry bikes although some also carry skis and snowboards.

I kinda like the deflated spare tire idea.
The idea is to build a bumper or body mounted spare tire carrier.
The roof rack on the top of the tear drop trailer is quite useful in carrying items such as bicycles sport items fishing items etc.
I don t think it would mainly because those tires are so stiff.
The only drawbacks.
I bet you ll either struggle or you won t be able to do it.
If you ve got a roof rack or cargo basket then you can gain cargo space inside your vehicle and carry a larger spare with one of our roof mounted spare tire carriers.
If you are unsure about what i mean try and lift your spare up onto your roof racks.

It makes a vehicle look extra adventurous and unlocks some space to mount toys and tools.
But climbing up to a basket on top of a tall 4x4 is a challenge.
And something hanging in front of the tailgate would be a pain too.
I used a cheap spare tire cover as it cut down on wind noise and to keep the harsh desert sun from damaging it even though the other.
I wonder if that would work.
