You can easily glue hardwood tile or linoleum to the surface.

Plywood can be easily painted laminated veneered and lacquered. Formaldehyde resins are used to make particle board which releases formaldehyde gas after installation. Particle board comes in several thicknesses which make it a versatile enough product to be used in roofing. The main uses are for furniture underlayment and as substrate for countertops.

Thus particle board is toxic. But using dads advice and my own experience 2 years of roofing plywood is the cats ass. Particle board is an eco friendly material as it uses wood wastes such as wood chips sawdust and wood shavings mixed together with a resin to form boards. Particle board in modern homes is required to be visibly marked as astm type 2 m w.

Particle board can be laminated and veneered easily. Particle board is a waste wood product that s made by mixing sawdust with adhesives. Due to porous fibers it soaks paint so it cannot be easily painted or paint consumption is more. Although it won t bow or warp like plywood it can swell and become unstable when exposed to water.

It can be milled with all power tools and has moderate tear out. If not of a type approved for use as roof sheathing particle board strength and stability when exposed to moisture is significantly lower than that of plywood or oriented strand board osb more commonly used for this application.
