Is planning permission required for roof solar panels.
Generally the installation of solar panels in a development does not require planning permission except in locations and contexts described in the following section.

In many circumstances solar panels fixed to the wall or roof of a house or block of flats are classed as permitted development and do not need planning permission providing that.
In addition the installation of m e equipment for the solar panel system such as inverters also does not require planning permission.
A solar array should not exceed the highest point of the roof excluding any chimney.
Aside from this solar panels are subject to normal building regulations which involves checking that the roof can support the extra load your mcs certified installer will this check for you.
There are some restrictions though.
The installation of solar panels and equipment on residential buildings and land may be permitted development with no need to apply to the local planning authority for planning permission.
It is possible to receive planning permission in these cases but this is at the discretion of your local planning authority.
